Fantastico Tips to Beat the Winter Blues!

Just when I thought that, spring is about to arrive and I could hang around in the fancy dresses; it began to rain merrily in Kolkata. As a result, both the temperature as well as my mood began to drop steadily. But who will handle my clients? It doesn’t matter whether it is a lazy Sunday morning or a chilly winter night; I have to deliver all the assignments within the deadline. Thus, I have figured out some fantastic tips, to combat the winter blues effectively:
Transforming the workbench: During the chilly winter days, the human body tends to crave for sunlight. However, if you are not too willing to open your windows (like me), it is ideally recommended to light up your work bench sufficiently with artificial light. Opening up the curtains or sitting next to the windows or tree branches are most effective, but alternatively, the artificial source of light too acts as an antidepressant.

Transform your mood with food: Chocolates can turn your mood fantastic, and relieve stress; Similarly consuming food items which are rich in carbohydrates can turn you depressed and anxious. Choose the food carefully, to stay fit and feel light.

Exercising is mandatory: It is needless to say that, many of us are affected by the seasonal affective disorder, which makes us depressed, irritated and lazy (during the dark, cold days). In order to overcome this problem, the best-proven solution is to walk for 35-60 minutes a day in a luminous area. Exercising under bright light can improve your overall health, social behavior and thereby transform your mood significantly.
• Listening to peppy tunes: Listening to peppy music plays a vital role, in lifting the mood of an individual for a long time. I also listen to the audio stories (when I have to work continuously for an 18-20 hours), because it helps a lot in retaining back my concentration and to stay focused. However, it depends on your daily habits and ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.

Helping people: Helping people around you (with small tasks) can also make you feel good because of a sense of self-satisfaction.
Go outside: Getting outside your shelter can benefit you in many ways. It is perhaps the most difficult task, to leave your blanket and take a walk at the local park; but, it will become easier when you have someone to accompany. Ask your friends to join you, or simply take your furry friend out; and it will reduce your depression manifold, thereby helping you to concentrate better with the fantastico fresh ideas being generated in your brain. Apart from these, you may also plan a short weekend trip with your friends.
